Federal Court Litigation

The location and proximity of the federal court house in Greenbelt to the Firm’s Calverton office provides easy access for the Firm’s well-established federal practice in that court.  Litigators at OMNG represent clients in the trial and appellate federal courts, including the bankruptcy courts, for the District of Columbia, the State of Maryland.

In addition to the Firms own federal practice, our attorneys are often called upon to serve as local counsel for federal cases.  The Firm’s experience and familiarity with the federal system and local rules make such partnerships extremely advantageous to out-of-state clients and practitioners.

Discrimination and Employment

Our Firm handles employment and discrimination cases from both the plaintiff and defense sides.  The Firm’s practice spans all types of discrimination on the basis of age, gender, sex, race, religion and national origin.  In the field of employment discrimination, the Firm represents employers and employees at both the trial and appellate levels.

Of particular note in the area of employment discrimination is the landmark case of Meritor Savings Bank, F.S.B. v. Vinson, 477 U.S. 57 (1986), which F. Robert Troll, Jr., argued before the United States Supreme Court in 1986.  This case is significant not only for the successful result obtained for the Firm’s client, but also because at the time it was the first sexual harassment case to come before the Supreme Court.
