Susan Zuhowski is a member of the
Firm’s Litigation Practice Group, in which she assists clients with the
resolution of business disputes, both in and out of the courtroom.
She appears before state and federal trial and appellate courts,
advocating for her clients at hearings and trials on matters including title
defense, banking, real property, contract and general liability matters.
In addition to litigation, Ms. Zuhowski also
uses her broad experience to assist clients in matters relating to real
property and government relations.
She is a registered lobbyist experienced with the Maryland General
Assembly and recently drafted a bill making significant revisions to the
provisions of the Maryland Mobile Home Parks Act.
Throughout her career, Ms. Zuhowski has used her superior analytic
skills to achieve results for her clients.
For example, in one of her cases, Ms Zuhowski determined how to avoid
a covenant prohibiting mining on a large parcel of property, which resulted
in the state’s purchase the property from her client for several million
dollars more than anticipated.
She has also acted as Maryland counsel in an eight state portfolio
purchase of nineteen properties, three of which were in Maryland.
Ms. Zuhowski is an experienced public speaker and has recently given
presentations to the Maryland Land Title Association on the provisions of
the Maryland Protection of Homeowners in Foreclosure Act, and to the Hospice
and Palliative Care Network regarding Advanced Directives and end of life
issues. She welcomes the
opportunity to speak before organizations looking to help educate their
members on various aspects of the law.
Ms. Zuhowski is a member of the Maryland State, Maryland Women’s, Prince George’s
County and Anne Arundel County Bar Associations.
She was recently appointed co-chair of the Anne Arundel County Bar
Association’s Continuing Legal Education Committee and she is a past
President of the Anne Arundel County Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association,
where she also served as Secretary and as Vice President.
Ms. Zuhowski is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the
Volunteer
Center
for Anne Arundel County and a
member of the Board of Directors of the Anne Arundel County Community
College Foundation, Inc. From 1994 through the end of the 2000-2001 school
year, she served as a Mock Trial Program Coach at Archbishop Spalding High School
through the Maryland State Bar Association Citizenship Law Related Education
Program. Ms. Zuhowski is
admitted to practice in Maryland
and the District of Columbia
as well as the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
