J. Brasier, a senior attorney with the Firm’s Real Estate and Banking
Practice Group, assists clients with the development of comprehensive estate
plans. Ms. Brasier is capable of
creating and administering estate plans for both uncomplicated estates, as
well as for estates involving significant assets and/or complex issues, such
as second marriages, business succession, special needs and long term
disability. She has extensive
knowledge of estate and gift tax laws and their implications with regard to
estate and financial planning.
In addition, Ms. Brasier has many years of experience handling probate
matters and the administration of estates before the Registers of Wills of
the various counties in the State of
Ms. Brasier’s practice also includes the structuring and effecting of real estate and commercial transactions, tax planning associated with the formation of new business entities, the restructuring and dissolution of business entities and other commercial transactions, and the representation of individuals, non-profit organizations, and businesses before the Internal Revenue Service. In addition, she represents lenders, homeowners and condominium associations, and other secured creditors in the prosecution of residential and commercial property foreclosure matters. Ms. Brasier has considerable experience in lien priority issues, resolving tax liens, pursing deficiency claims, and obtaining possession of property for her clients.
Drawing on her broad background in tax, business, and real estate law, Ms. Brasier analyzes and prepares estate plans from an inclusive viewpoint. She ably assists her clients in substantially reducing their estate tax liability by structuring ownership of entities and creating new entities, developing gifting plans, establishing trusts, family partnerships and drafting installment sales plans for family members. She has saved her clients millions of dollars in estate tax liability by instituting estate plans that are specifically tailored to address their needs.

in the Suburban Maryland Estate Planning Council, the Tax and Estate
Planning Sections of the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Estate and
