Mr. Marks has guided non-profit and religious
organizations through various legal situations such as acquisition and
construction of sanctuaries, development of senior citizen housing,
operation of private schools, creation and operation of community
development corporations, compensation and employment agreements, compliance
with governmental regulations, disciplinary actions, and congregational
disputes. He has represented church
clients with a collective congregational membership in excess of 100,000
members. In his real estate
transactions practice, Mr. Marks represents clients in land use appeals
before administrative agencies, the Maryland Circuit Courts, and the
Maryland Courts of Appeals. He
also represented one of the first charter schools approved to operate in
Drawing on the depth of his
experience in a wide array of legal fields, Mr. Marks skillfully counsels
individuals in their family law and estate planning needs.
He frequently handles complicated divorce and property distribution
cases that are, at times, painful and difficult for the individuals
involved. He is an effective
negotiator on behalf of his clients, using a keen understanding of real
estate and business law to reach a successful outcome.
Mr. Marks also assists clients in
preparing comprehensive estate plans for individuals and family members,
including living wills, family trusts, and medical and personal
powers-of-attorney.
